The winner in the junior group was announced after the final round on March 30 at the Svetlanov hall of the Moscow International Performing Arts Centre.
Five young musicians – Alexandra Dovgan and Natalia Khorokhorova from Russia, Tinghong Liao from China, Takuma Onodera from Japan and Jang Hung Choe from Noth Korea – performed piano concertos by Mozart, Beethoven and Schuman with the National Philharmonic of Russia under Alexander Soloviev.
Announcing the holder of the main prize the artistic director and jury chairman of the competition emphasized that all five participants were, in fact, the winners.
“It was very difficult to select just one among so gifted artists, – said Romanovsky. – But now we would like to stay apart from the competition’s rivalry because it is more important to give an opportunity for the young generation of performers to demonstrate their skills. All our laureates are our family now and we will be together from now on. We will follow their further progress and help them to grow and develop professionally.”
The final auditions of the senior group take place on March 31. After the participants’ performances the jury will announce the Grand Prix winner.
