The preliminary auditions of the III Vladimir Krainev Moscow International Piano Competition have taken place in Pyongyang, the capital of the DPRK, on December 8 and 9.
Nineteen young performers who had successfully passed the video screening stage played at the Kim Won Gyun University of Music. The jury board that listened to the young talents included the competition’s artistic director Alexander Romanovsky, Vladimir Ovchinnikov, Katya Skanavi, and the North Korean representative Gwang Hyok. The master classes by the jury members for the competition participants followed the auditions.

The next stage of the preliminary auditions will take place in Tokyo, Japan, on December 22.
